Zoha Waseem's big year: a Faisalabad concert, Coke Studio Nu.WAV and life after 'Majboor'

A year ago most people only knew Zoha Waseem as the voice on Sheheryar Rehan’s Majboor. Now she’s headlining concerts and opening Coke Studio’s newest series. Here’s where things stand.

On Sunday 4 October, Zoha shared the stage with Danyal Zafar (Danny Zee) at a live concert at the Event Lawn in Skyland City, on Faisalabad’s Canal Expressway. Tickets on Bookme started at PKR 3,500. Danyal is also busy on screen this year as Sar Buland in Hum TV’s Zanjeerain, so the pairing pulled in both music fans and drama fans.

Fans have been sharing clips of her live shows on YouTube and Instagram. The video above is one of her full live performances, and the short further down is from Pop Fest 2025.

Opening Coke Studio Nu.WAV

In September, Coke Studio launched Nu.WAV, a new platform for younger artists, and its first song was Dil, sung by Afusic and Zoha Waseem. It was written and composed by Afusic and Ali Raza and produced by Ali Soomro. Dil is the first of six Nu.WAV releases.

Reactions have been split. The Express Tribune described the response online as mixed: some listeners love the fresh sound, while others miss the folk and fusion feel of classic Coke Studio.

Fame comes with noise

Majboor made Zoha one of the most talked-about new voices of the year, and she has spoken to the Express Tribune about the pressure that came with it. In August she was also caught in a public Instagram exchange with actor Alizeh Shah, which started with Alizeh questioning one of the song’s lyrics and turned into a back-and-forth about auto-tune.
